Two sister practices, one team. Summit Sport Psychology offers mental performance coaching, and Tri-Lakes Counseling and Peak Performance offers therapy and clinical care. Both share one goal: helping you compete, work, and live from freedom, not fear.

Licensed Psychologist | Founder
Dr. Trent Claypool is a licensed psychologist and the founder of Summit Sport Psychology and Tri-Lakes Counseling and Peak Performance. For more than 15 years he has worked with athletes, coaches, and teams at every level, from youth and developmental programs to NCAA, Olympic, and professional competitors.
His work combines mental performance coaching, psychological flexibility, and nervous system regulation, with specialized training in trauma-informed care. He offers both coaching and therapy, and he partners with collegiate athletic departments on team culture.
His goal with every client is the same: help them get free enough to trust themselves, take risks, and enjoy competing again.

Doctor of Clinical Psychology | Psychologist Candidate
Dr. Kaela Parentis works with athletes, high achievers, and anyone whose mind won't seem to quiet down. She helps clients with generalized and performance anxiety, perfectionism, overthinking, self-criticism, stress, and life transitions, along with the particular pressures that come with achieving in sport, school, careers, and everyday life.
She is especially interested in how the mind and body affect each other. Many of her clients feel stress physically, through stomach and GI issues or other somatic symptoms. Together they build a clearer picture of that mind-body connection and develop more flexible, effective ways to respond when stress shows up.
Her style is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each person. She draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) alongside humanistic and relational approaches. When it fits a client's goals, she may also bring in mindfulness and meditation, hypnotherapy, somatic and yoga-informed practices, and concrete coping and performance skills.
Dr. Parentis provides therapy through Tri-Lakes Counseling and Peak Performance under the supervision of Dr. Trent Claypool, PsyD.
At Summit Sport Psychology and Tri-Lakes Counseling and Peak Performance, performance is more than stats, trophies, or conventional toughness. It's about how you show up when the pressure is on and doubt creeps in.
Based in the Colorado Springs region, we blend evidence-based sport psychology, trauma-informed care, performance coaching, and therapy so you can compete from a place of freedom rather than fear.

Most people think mental performance is just about mindset. But the mind is only one part of the system. We go deeper, training the nervous system, emotional agility, and internal alignment so that peak performance becomes a natural byproduct of who you are.
Everything we offer, from coaching to therapy, is grounded in science and tailored to you, because the best competitors tend to be the most centered, connected, and courageous ones.
We help you unlock natural flow, not force outcomes. True confidence emerges when you're free to fully trust yourself in the moment.
Lasting success in sport and life is built on authentic relationships, vulnerability, and belonging, not ego or domination.
We embrace a growth mindset that values progress over flawless execution. The skills you develop here transform how you approach challenges in every arena of life.
We train mindfulness as one of the foundations for peak performance. By cultivating deep awareness in the present moment, you transform challenges into opportunities.
Your performance is a gift you share, not who you are. We help you diversify your identity beyond results, seeing competition as an act of love.
We work with athletes, parents, coaches, teams, and high achievers outside of sport who are ready to train their mind the way they train their body. Whether you're chasing a PR, coming back from injury, trying to quiet constant overthinking, or rediscovering your love for the game, we'll help you build the tools to thrive.
Our team is where mental toughness meets emotional intelligence, because true performance begins when you're centered, connected, and present.
