Using Sport to help Prevent Relational and Sexual Violence

Dr. Claypool believes that athletes play an important role in shaping culture and have opportunities to proactively create a better world. Specifically, he has worked with NCAA teams and athletic departments on creating cultures of sexual respect and working to end sexual violence.

Dr. Claypool served on the Task Force to Give Guidance on Addressing Sexual Assault of the American College Health Association, which included publication of a position statement, guidelines on sexual assault prevention, and the following toolkit: Addressing Sexual and Relationship Violence: A Trauma Informed Approach. He is a recipient of the Ruth E. Boynton Award for Distinguished Service to the American College Health Association in 2018.

Engaging Men and Athletes in Interpersonal Violence Prevention

Dr. Claypool believes we all play a part in ending interpersonal and sexual violence and that for far too long women have carried far too much of the burden for creating positive change. He is passionate about helping organizations like colleges and universities, fraternities, and sport and athletic teams find ways to engage men in dialogue about ending interpersonal and sexual violence.
